Defining myself as an astrologer hasn’t been an easy journey for me. The truth of the matter is in our modern world, your work defines you. If I look at being an astrologer simply as work though, that doesn’t quite surmise all being an astrologer means to me. Astrology is the lens through which I see the world. It holds deep significance in all my daily interactions and innermost thoughts. There’s a subconscious layer of astrology brought to all that I do in this life. 

 

Knowing yourself is the greatest asset in this life- to understand yourself on the deepest, darkest subconscious level can only help you grow. When I discovered what a birth chart is from a former coworker, it helped me unlock a deeper understanding of myself that has perpetuated immense growth and healing in all areas of my life. Reframing my worldview through the motifs of the planetary energies moving through the archetypes of the zodiac has helped me go farther than I ever thought imaginable. When I started to identify as an astrologer, tarot reader, and energetic being, everything really fell into place for me. 

 

In Chani Nicholas’ ‘You Were Born For This: Astrology for Radical Self-Acceptance’ she mentions the planets visiting her in dreams, beckoning to accept her calling as an astrologer and share the wisdom embedded in the universe. When the planets began to speak to me, I was too young or naive to understand what it takes to define oneself as fluent in the language of the stars. With time, patience, practice and dozens of books read later, I finally felt ready to identify the astrologer in me. 

 

Astrology combines math, science, art, mythology, history, poetry, and magic all in one. To commit to being an astrologer, is to commit to perpetually learning and remaining in the position of the student as your approach mastery. 

 

I believe the universe always finds a way to reach us through various webs of interconnectivity, and the hermetic principle of as above, so below. Through divination practices we can find these answers more clearly. Astrology and tarot are tools through which the universe speaks to me. It inspires me to lean into understanding with others and helps me in everyday life to make sense of an otherwise senseless world. I am overjoyed to finally feel confident in regarding myself as an astrologer and tarot reader.
