From the evening of January 19th until the morning of February 18th the Sun will make its way through the sign of Aquarius. This Saturn and Uranus ruled sign is here to fine-tune the structure built during Capricorn season in a radical way.
Aquarius is the fixed air sign of winter, the cloudiest time where the dimmest Sun colors the sky with pastel hues.
Air signs are concerned with our thought processes and making connections. Aquarius season is the coldest part of winter where we are mostly isolated in our homes (by contrast Leo season, Aquarius’ sister sign takes place during the hottest part of the year). Because of this, when we do make connections with others, there is an extra layer of intentionality involved. This is a time when we can find solitude within ourselves and encourages us to seek community outside of ourselves.
Aquarius’ symbol the water bearer depicts a man kneeling down pouring the water of consciousness out of a vessel to share with all of mankind. This represents the connection between all of humanity through the intellectual and intuitive mind.
The water bearer’s nature is to find understanding within the collective consciousness and our shared experiences on Earth. Aquarius’ idealistic vision looks at things as they could be if humanity was without ego. This sign is eager to challenge the established order of things and can often inspire acts of rebellion against authority. Aquarius energy is never afraid to say “it doesn’t have to be like this, there is a better way”. Both Sweden and Canada are considered to be Aquarius in mundane astrology.
Every Aquarius I know is different from the next, as it is their nature to strive to be individuals who are derivative of the norm. They do however all have some subject or a passion they are deeply knowledgeable about and are happy to share that information with gusto. They are innovative thinkers with strong intuition but often can be eccentric, frigid or even scatterbrained.
People with Aquarius placements often have to master finding a way to get things done that is solely their own and should not try to make themselves fit into a box to find success. Comparison to what is conventional will not take you far under the Aquarian influence.
The approach we take now must be completely our own even (maybe even especially) if it’s never been done before.
The power of the mind is an important theme during Aquarius season. Where we sow seeds of doubt, nothing can grow. Air energy understands the power of words and the power of using affirmations to manifest your dream life. In creating your individual vision of the world, try to embrace your own limitless potential and radical self-love in whatever way that means to you.
We are still in the very early stages of Mercury Retrograde and near the end of Venus Retrograde. There are a lot of ideas, ideals, values, and relationships up for review now. With Aquarius at the center, we may feel inspired to take a more objective approach in the handling of our experiences. We can easily tap into healthy detachment and universal thinking.
This Aquarius season starts with a BANG!
The Moon’s Nodes of Fate have changed from the signs of Gemini + Sagittarius to Taurus + Scorpio. The North and South Nodes represent mathematical points in the sky exactly between the Sun and the Moon. Where we find the North and South Nodes dictates where the next series of eclipses will take place during the next 18 months.
These will act as areas of collective karma and usher in new lessons surrounding finding stability in an ever-changing world. Under the mutable influence of Gemini and Sagittarius, the world shifted quickly, under the influence of fixed Taurus and Scorpio we may find more of us leaning towards slowing down our pace.
We are invited to embrace more simplicity and be in the present moment.
The influence of the North Node is where we are entering an unknown or areas we have yet to master. Whereas the influence of the South Node is what we know and are comfortable with or gifts we have entered this life with.
The North Node in Taurus will help us find stability under turmoil, rework our relationship with money and abundance, recognize our value or worth, and be more intentional in everything. The South Node in Scorpio will help us accept and honor change and transformation, make peace with not being able to be in control, and build resilience, resolve and inner strength.
The Nodes will make a perfect square or aspect of tension to the Aquarius Sun later on during Aquarius season on February 15th. This will mark the halfway point between the last round of eclipses in November 2021 and the next which will take place on April 30, 2022 and May 16, 2022.
This aspect is considered a distinct turning point, and themes will likely resurface again around Taurus Season. This square brings an air of tension between what we are used to vs where we are heading. It is unlikely to not notice an energetic shift at this moment.
During the next series of eclipses, we can expect stories revealing ugly truths around the structures of power, scandals related to manipulating data and cyber security, extreme weather and environmental disasters revealing the ways the current system is unprepared, changes in the food and financial industries, attitudes towards money (think cryptocurrencies), attitudes around what we deem as valuable, within power dynamics, and sustainable solutions for the planet.
We’ve already seen some of these themes manifest with Uranus’ transit through Taurus. Soon the North Node will join Uranus in conjunction and there will certainly be further disruptions made within Taurus’ earthy domain under which major change will be facilitated.
Aquarius Season this year begins with a Leo Moon, which inspires us to further embrace our individuality and allow what is in our hearts to shine outwardly. All of the fixed energy in the air inspires willpower and determination to get things done.
I personally love this combination of cosmic energies as it’s Megan thee Stallion’s personal Sun and Moon sign.
When I say radical self-love she is kind of exactly what I envision. Funny enough Twitter actually launched this campaign yesterday featuring a tweet Megan wrote in 2014.
This is the power of the mind under the Aquarian influence. This forward-thinking energy is extremely potent for manifestation. Now is a time to stretch your imagination to the further corners of the world and really feel that it is within reach for you.
When the Sun is in Aquarius, nothing is too far-fetched or impossible.
Belief dictates meaning and there is so much power in your belief right now. The Saturnian principle of having to work for it does apply here still as Mars is shifting into Capricorn on January 24th. This Aquarius season, make space for yourself to fully bloom by beginning with strong roots and foundation.
