All throughout Capricorn season, the Sun has been on a path to meet with Pluto.
Pluto has been sitting in the sign of Capricorn since November 27th, 2008. Pluto is a generational planet, meaning its influence extends over years to large groups of people. Generational planets have larger elliptical orbits and move very slowly compared to personal planets like Mercury or Venus. The influence of generational planets is typically felt through aspects being made to the other planetary bodies or personally. This happens through whichever house it is transiting in your personal birth chart. Pluto will remain in Capricorn until January 21, 2024.
Pluto governs over transformation, power, death + rebirth, destruction, and survival. In Capricorn, this has brought the overall larger structures that govern us as a society under a microscope, along with the many ways these structures are breaking down. Each Capricorn Season, the Sun meets with Pluto to metaphorically bring everything to a boil. This year the transit happens to fall on the same day as the full moon in Cancer, January 17th.
Pluto’s influence on this lunation invites upheaval by pulling out the emotional rot. Full Moons are revealing- especially with Mercury’s retrograde transit only beginning days prior. There is a tendency to lean into nostalgia as Capricorn and Cancer have an innate appreciation and respect for the past.
Security, vulnerability, self-acceptance and self-love are all major themes under this transit. Sun conjunct Pluto in Capricorn is asking us to invoke our own personal power to tackle each of these areas within our healing.
The Moon is home in watery Cancer, and she is giving us permission to allow ourselves to fully feel right now. This is the emotional climax of Capricorn season.
There is a strong emotional potency that comes with this full moon, which can lead to sustainable growth if we are willing to work through it all. There may be difficulties in finding the words to speak from the heart but if there was ever a time to do it, it’s now. We may find issues rooted around dependency and sufficiency, home and work balance, family and individualism, doing for self vs doing for others and thinking vs feeling.
Provision is an area each Capricorn and Cancer have a stake in, from how we obtain our food to how we prepare it. Since the Moon rules over our daily habits this is a good time to rework the ways we feed ourselves or the ways we obtain our sustenance. This can range from changing your diet to shopping locally or simply trying new recipes. The point is to look to ways that you can personally take more responsibility for yourself and feed yourself in a way that nourishes your soul.
As Cancer rules over the home and Capricorn is concerned with return on investment, this is an incredibly auspicious time to maintain your things in a meticulous way. Repairing shoes, mending clothing, deep cleaning your kitchen, or reorganizing areas you don’t typically tend to can all be ways you honor this transit.
They say home is where the heart is, this full moon in Cancer will help create structure around wherever that may be for us individually.
When we feel at home we feel safe to be vulnerable, express ourselves and simply be. Under the light of the full moon I invite you to invoke a sense of home from within and find gratitude for the ways home exists outside of you. Think of all the ways you can find more intimacy in your environment and softness in your life with those you love.
Let yourself notice all the ways you love yourself, from setting boundaries to cooking a delicious meal to finding the space and time to just be still. Being tender with self and extending that same kindness to others is the name of the game for these next few days. Full moon energy builds and dissipates for 3 days prior and after the moon reaches it’s fullest form. If you have a full moon ritual you have between tonight and January 20th to utilize this energy to release.
Thank you for reading🤍 I hope you all have a cathartic full moon
