FULL MOON IN SCORPIO: BREAK IT DOWN TO BUILD IT BACK UP

Updated: May 14, 2022

Taurus season typically acts as a stabilizing time of year in which our ambitions we identified under the Aries Sun take root and begin to flourish. This year Taurus season’s traditional flow has been disrupted time and time again due to the North and South Nodes of fate which we find in Taurus and Scorpio respectively.

Where we find the North and South Nodes we find activation points for significant changes, disruptions, and shake-ups. These energetic points where the Sun and Moon’s ecliptic meet are where the next series of eclipses will occur from here through 2023. Eclipses recalibrate our reality to align it closer to our destiny. This can manifest in the form of opportunity or loss but above all, it is always unexpected.

Whatever happens under eclipse energy is meant to be and it is not advisable to go against the current at this time. The solar eclipse in Taurus set off this cycle on April 30th. Solar eclipses are always new moons, whereas lunar eclipses are always full moons.

After the solar eclipse, Taurus’ planetary ruler Venus shifted from the sign of her exaltation, Pisces to the sign of her detriment, Aries on May 2nd. This changes the pace a bit as fire energy tends to blaze a trail and inspire us to forge ahead.

Jupiter followed not far behind, moving to Aries for the first time since 2010!

This transit will take place from May 10th through October 28th. Jupiter is all about our belief system, abundance, luck, and prosperity. In the sign of Aries, we will find our success through furthering our belief in ourselves. We must take the idealized version of the world through the lens of Pisces and firmly place it in reality through Aries’ visionary leadership.

This is a time to release fear and go after what you want confidently! You may be pleasantly surprised with the results so long as you’re working from a place of honesty and integrity. Aries helps us actualize our plans by never giving in to fear and remaining firm in ourselves. Jupiter’s transit through here will bestow us with bountiful opportunities whenever we can embody the warrior’s spirit.

On the same day as Jupiter closes out their time in Pisces, Mercury stations retrograde. This Mercury retrograde will take place from May 10th through June 3rd, starting at 4º Gemini and ending at 26º Taurus.

Mercury is the fastest moving planet so when it stations retrograde we can easily feel the effects. Mercury rules over communication, commerce, connection, the mind, technology, and transit. Under the influence of Mercury retrograde, we may notice delays, disruptions, or challenges related to these areas of life. This can manifest as misunderstandings, plans going awry, technology malfunctioning, or things simply not working in accordance with our plans.

Retrogrades are all about slowing down.

This particular transit especially as Mercury is heading back from quick-witted and fast-paced Gemini towards slow-and-steady wins the race Taurus. It is not advisable to rush through anything at this moment. We must think through our plans carefully and remain calm in the face of adversity. When things aren’t working out during a retrograde transit, it’s a clear-cut sign to re-work, revise, and redo to get it right the next time.

This retrograde station occurring between two eclipses means time may feel a bit unusual at this moment. It can be both fast and slow at once. We may struggle to keep ourselves grounded as these are disorienting transits, bringing both the past and future into the here and now.

As we head closer to the lunar eclipse in Scorpio taking place on May 15th, we may notice energetic tensions rising. Full moons are the climax of the lunar cycle, closing out a chapter to make space for ushering in the next. Full Moons always occur when the Sun is 180º away from the Moon. The nature of an opposition in astrology is to inspire us to reach balance.

The binary of Taurus-Scorpio most simply put is materiality vs spirituality and mine vs ours. Taurus’ nature is to create in order to reach stability. Taurus bestows bounty and beauty onto the Earth through its nurturing spirit and stabilizing vibrations. They are materially wealthy and self-sufficient.

Scorpio’s nature is to penetrate, destroy, and rebuild. They know life cannot always be perfect and beautiful. They seek a deeper understanding of the deep inner workings of the world and are spiritually wealthy. The archetype of Scorpio is where man begins to develop his understanding of that which is unseen and connects us all in the metaphysical sense.

This full moon will draw our attention to where instability exists in our lives in an attempt to lead us to transform our weaknesses into our strengths. Scorpio energy tends to draw out our shadow and with the light of the full moon illuminating the way we are sure to notice it under this eclipse. This can manifest as heavy feelings, less than ideal circumstances, or plain old failure. We are being encouraged to face our fears.

While we may feel discouraged at this moment, we are being guided to utilize this momentum as a platform to pivot to a better version of ourselves.

We may be forced to address undesirable results with objectivity in order to formulate a plan of action to ensure future success. With Mercury retrograde ongoing at the same time, returning to the drawing board is highly encouraged at this moment in time. Rest and recovery are a high priority post-eclipse as they are energetically draining and we need space in order to grow.

We are heading down an unknown path from here on out. The lunar eclipse in Scorpio will act as a spark that set the whole path ablaze. Change is scary but under this lunation, fear won’t get you far. We must face our fears head-on and allow ourselves to take that first step towards our destiny.

We may have to part with pieces of ourselves, our plans, our relationships, or even our goals at this time. Full Moons often act as the end of something, and with Scorpio running the show we are in for a full emotional cleansing of sorts. The Scorpio Moon is unafraid to burn it all down in order to build it back up later on.

Eclipses are eye-opening and revealing on a universal scale. We may see stories over the next few days related to abuses of power, scandals related to manipulating data and cyber security, extreme weather and environmental disasters revealing the ways the current system is unprepared, changes in the food and financial industries, attitudes towards money (such as cryptocurrencies), attitudes around what we deem as valuable, within power dynamics, and sustainable solutions for the planet.

On a personal level, we are being invited to release resistance to change, acknowledge, and transform our shadow side. Change is the only constant and we are under some intense astro-weather that dictates change is the only way to go from here. If we are open to allowing things to happen as they may, we may find something even more rewarding on the other side.

Get ready to let go! The Full moon in Scorpio won’t have it any other way.
