On the evening of February 3rd Mercury stations direct at 24º Capricorn.
The end of Mercury Retrograde typically culminates with fatigue and brain fog alongside some last-minute mercurial antics (miscommunication, delays, drama). Once Mercury is direct in motion we have the green light to start making moves on whatever we have been tending to over the last few weeks.
With Mercury, Venus, and Mars all in Capricorn we have an extreme amount of Earth energy on deck. Earth is results-driven, slow-moving, and methodical, the seeds we plant under this influence have an abundance of potential to grow into long-lasting stability.
It is important to note that the day we plant the seed is not the same day we reap the fruit of our labor.
Timing is extremely important where Capricorn is concerned as it is ruled by Saturn, the keeper of time. “Time is the most valuable resource” has been a resounding theme all throughout these Saturn-ruled seasons (think now through December). Under Saturn’s influence, we can easily ascertain what is and what isn’t “worth” our time.
Now as Mercury continues back over the same degrees it traveled through during its retrograde transit, we will encounter similar themes from the last few weeks with the added perspective of having been in this position before.
This is an opportunity to not repeat the cycle.
As Mercury continues down the celestial path through Capricorn, ultimately it will meet with Pluto who has been in Capricorn since 2008. Where we find Pluto we find destruction, rebirth, transformation, and the unearthing of all things hidden.
When Mercury meets Pluto, we can be confronted with imbalances of power, observing our own shadow or toxic behaviors, and situations that remove anyone or anything that doesn’t truly align with our higher selves.
This transit has already occurred two other times on December 29th and January 28th. When it occurs again on February 11th, it will act as a conclusion to an ongoing story that has been playing out since the middle of Capricorn season.
Again, this time around acts as an opportunity to break the cycle.
The positive side to this transit presents an opportunity to explore the deepest layers of ourselves or those we allow to enter the walls of our hearts. There is an opportunity to leave no stone unturned and share or connect to the deepest pieces of ourselves. This transit allows us to analyze, dissect and confront our own behaviors with the added influence of Aquarius season inspiring us to embrace a universal oneness and loving detachment.
With all planets in direct motion now is the time to move forward!
The Aquarius Sun will conjoin Saturn on February 4th which inspires us to show up for ourselves and our dreams. If you’ve been thinking about building a new routine around a creative pursuit or implementing structure for yourself in general, this is a great day to start!
Saturn wants us to succeed but not without hard work and determination. You can achieve anything you believe under the Aquarius influence. Air energy is kinetic, untameable, and changeable.
Under this transit, you can achieve great recognition and results if you have remained disciplined and focused. On the inverse, if you have been lackadaisical it will be clear that it is time to set out to create new goals and clear structure for yourself. It may be time to simplify and get back to basics.
Feelings of loneliness or being “alone in the world” can crop up under the cold winds of the Aquarius sun. This can act as a time to shine light on that feeling and understand it as hyper independence or as a defensive response to vulnerability.
Aquarian expression encourages us to embrace our uniqueness and individuality in conjunction with the idea that collectively we are all existing through a universal experience. We can better work towards an understanding of ourselves and our place in the world under the beams of the Aquarius sun.
It is a time to connect to our community, to tap into the collective consciousness, to fully form our identity in collective spaces, and to take up space for ourselves.
Whenever I am writing these horoscopes, oftentimes there is a song that will get stuck in my head. This time it happens to be Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie. This one particular lyric comes to mind:
“'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance
This is ourselves under pressure”
This reminds me of the conjunction the Aquarius Sun makes to Saturn this week.
Aquarius builds on the foundation of the old-fashioned world Capricorn imagined. Aquarian love asks us to broaden our sense of humanity and extend compassion to all of mankind (ourselves especially). This concept of love isn’t romantic in nature but rather rooted in understanding that we all can understand, experience, and overcome darkness.
It is important at this time to strive to be the light.
We may feel called to acknowledge our limitations under this transit.
Sometimes the most loving thing we can do for ourselves is to create distance from situations or mindsets that hold us back. If you don’t start to act differently under this Saturnian influence, you will begin to notice the pressure creeping in.
It can feel like this is our last chance to get it right. Now is the time to get serious about the change you want to see in the world. Your dreams can be reality and with all planets, in direct motion, there’s never been a more potent opportunity to plant the seed.
