TAURUS NEW MOON ECLIPSE: A RESET TO FIND STABILITY FROM WITHIN

Updated: Jun 21, 2022

Taurus season is a time to tend to the gardens of our inner beings.

Earth energy is concerned with nourishment, resources, and stable foundations. Under the Taurus Sun, we are encouraged to check in with ourselves under this lens. During the Sun’s stay in Taurus this year, a very large focal point will center around finding inner stability in an ever so unstable world.

This is because we have officially entered eclipse season!

Eclipse energy is synonymous with change. This is bad news for the fixed signs who prefer knowing exactly how everything will play out. Releasing control will be a major theme throughout these next few weeks as the nodes of fate work within the Taurus: Scorpio axis.

A solar eclipse occurs during the new moon phase whereas a lunar eclipse occurs during a full moon phase. The Sun and Moon typically are destined here to meet by conjunction or opposition. During an eclipse, the position of the luminaries (a.k.a, the Sun and the Moon!) block light from reaching one another, obstructing their influence. This occurs at the highest and lowest points along the elliptical orbits where the Sun and Moon paths meet, known as the north and south nodes.

This series of eclipses began with a lunar eclipse in Taurus, on November 19th, 2021, and will come to a close with a lunar eclipse in Taurus, on October 28th, 2023. Under the influence of these eclipses, we are invited to slow down, embrace simplicity, and be authentically ourselves.

The solar eclipse in Taurus on April 30th may connect to the lunar eclipse that started this cycle as well as to some event that occurred around February 15th when the Aquarius sun formed a square to the nodes, marking the halfway point between eclipse seasons.

Eclipses invoke shake-ups for us all, but this will be most closely felt by those who have fixed (meaning Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) placements, particularly rising!

Where we find the north node we find conscious influence from the future and our karmic destiny. This is an unknown we are heading into at odds with the south node, which brings subconscious influence from the past. This is territory we’re much more familiar with and came into this life knowing.

The north node embodies traits we must work towards by overcoming the subconscious tendencies the south node embodies.

In Taurus, The north node will help us find stability under turmoil, rework our relationship with money and abundance, recognize our value or worth, and be more intentional in everything we do.

The south node in Scorpio will help us accept and honor change and transformation, and make peace with not being able to be in control. It will also help build resilience, resolve, and inner strength.

According to Hindu mythology, during eclipses the nodes attempt to swallow the Sun or the Moon, eclipsing and distorting their influence.

Time can feel extremely unstable under the current astrology. Eclipses are destabilizing on their own, but add in Mercury retrograde’s shadow beginning on April 25th and Pluto’s pending retrograde on April 29th, and you have quite the cosmic karmic storm brewing.

Eclipses invoke sudden shifts that redirect us by recalibrating our reality. They tend to be quite chaotic in order to accelerate growth by putting us in atypical circumstances.

On a global scale, this eclipse energy can manifest as stories revealing ugly truths around the structures of power, scandals related to manipulating data/cyber security, or extreme weather and environmental disasters revealing the ways the current system is unprepared. This can also bring to light changes in the food and financial industries, attitudes towards money (like NFTs or cryptocurrencies), or what we deem as valuable, and sustainable solutions for the planet.

Eclipses do not guarantee instantaneous change, merely unexpected change. This is one in a series of eclipses over the course of the next few months which act as turning points, setting us off in a new direction. We may feel that we have to do a lot at once right now in order to “catch up”. However, the best thing you can do for yourself is to acknowledge that everything is happening exactly as it should and to move forward one step at a time.

It can be easy to feel overwhelmed but this will all pass and you are not alone in that feeling!

It is important to prioritize rest and recovery now. We may not feel like ourselves or be discouraged with what’s happening around us because it isn’t “what we wanted” but eclipse energy works in a way that redirects us to something unexpected that’s even better.

Pluto stations retrograde on April 29th, further contributing heavy energy to the collective sphere. We may find it difficult on this day to draw inspiration or positivity. It can feel like a dark cloud hanging over our heads leading to hyper-critical thoughts.

The north node’s function is to amplify whatever it touches. With Pluto stationing in reverse so close to the eclipse, we are feeling our karmic destiny beckoning to us. However, we may find it difficult to believe it is within reach due to limitations in our current reality. Pluto will be retrograde from April 29th through October 8th. During this time we are encouraged to further remove any self-sabotage or blocks to fully embody our personal power.

Pluto’s function in Capricorn is to clear out the rot to optimize the structure. While retrograde, Pluto reminds us to acknowledge our shadow, analyze our psyches and strive for transforming our pain into our strength. Retrogrades inspire re-working, reviewing, and re-doing to achieve a new result once the lesson is learned.

Pluto’s retrograde occurring so close to the solar eclipse shows us that whatever we are shifting towards will require some intense inner work before we access whatever new beginning is to come. Often adjustments like this are enacted by outside stimuli triggering our individual wounds. If we pause to reflect, we can use that perspective to enact powerful change.

Eclipses act as a merging of timelines, bringing the future into the here and now by removing whatever was blocking its path from entering your life. Whatever makes an exit during eclipse season is being removed by an act of fate and should be met with healthy detachment.

Eclipse energy is messy and erratic but we must go with the flow and see where the chaos takes us.

The two-week period between eclipses also hosts the beginning of Mercury Retrograde, another agent of chaos working backward to get us back on track. Think of this time like a centrifuge, spinning around our lives to remove whatever is poisoning us by breaking everything down into its simplest form. This process isn’t easy but is necessary in order for us to soar to new heights.

This is the first step along a winding road of adventure unfolding over the course of the next few weeks. We can expect only the unexpected and meet our fate with unyielding grace by finding stability from within.

The world under eclipse energy is unbridled and intemperate. In order to persevere, we must balance releasing attachment from any singular outcome while remaining firm in ourselves.

Eclipses are energetic peaks that require strength and mental fortitude to remain grounded. We may encounter situations that make us uncomfortable or require an open mind to find the bright side. This moment in time is one piece of an overarching story playing out over the course of the next year.

We can't fight fate if we try it only prolongs the number of times the universe will show us the objective truth. In this moment of time find comfort wherever you can and buckle in because we are in for one wild ride.
